Wear it.

Hemp provides all the softness of a natural textile but with a strength that is an amazing 3 times higher than cotton – and uses less inputs to grow. Unlike synthetic fibers producing nano-plastics polluting the ocean, hemp fibers bio-degrade. Currently in the US, hemp fabrics are imported. We filmed a hemp designer in NC where some are hoping to revive a once robust textile industry with a domestic hemp supply chain. See our YouTube channel for updates.

Build it.

Hemp+Lime construction - aka “hempcrete” is a carbon negative, natural material that won’t mildew, is thermal regulating, resists fire and repels pests. Hemp+lime can be cast as walls, prefabricated panels or made into bricks & blocks. Hemp fibers can be used for insulation, boards & flooring. The US Hemp Building Association is working towards certification of hemp building materials. Read Healthy Materials Lab Hemp + Lime report .
